Art in the Early Years
‘Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.’
– Pablo Picasso
The early years are a time of curiosity, play and discovery, and art is often at the centre of it all. From first marks on paper to more recognisable shapes and forms, younger students use art to explore materials, ideas and the world around them.
Art in the early years is not only about the finished work, but the process of making: experimenting with colour, texture and shape and building confidence through creative expression.
This collection brings together artworks created by students from ELC to Year 2 across our Member Schools, offering a glimpse into some the ways young learners make, imagine and create.
