Curator's Notes
The use of new media and moving imagery has become a vital part of the ever expanding horizon of the digital world and an integral part of student learning.
For the first time, our collection incorporates static as well as moving images. From our junior stop motion animated works through to more sophisticated web-based designs and documentaries by senior students, it is evident that the use of the multimedia is definitely an active part of contemporary carricula. These digital works embrace the language and currency of the modern age with its visual interface and speed of communication and delivery.
It is the mastery of digital media that will provide students with not only the opportunity to create new and exciting art experiences, but also opens the door to interdisciplinary learning. With new technologies creating the common language for communication that is used throughout all areas of student learning, outside the classroom in the social contexts and the professional world beyond, it is easy to see why the inclusion of such works in our collection are now an imperative.
Our general collection is once again full of works which provide another insight into the world of our students. Through their complexity and diversity the works are constant reminders of the emerging culture that our students are creating by informing our thinking and challenging our imaginations.
Please join with us once again in celebrating the achievements of our students.
