In exploring the phenomena of memories and how they can fade and weaken, this work embodies a fragile memory store. The portrait of generic and stylised faces represent how as our memory of individuals become distant, we have difficulty recognising who they are. Transience is conveyed through gentle forms that fade into the background, accompanied with gestural sgraffito lines. Layered on top of the drawing, the Perspex plate not only acts as a physical barrier between the viewer and the faces, but also symbolises how a lost memory can be unreachable.
