Through the years of struggling with my cultural identity, this acts as a decisive factor that consolidates the position of my Chinese heritage and the western influences I grew up with. Conveying a massage of hope for my coming future, now certain of my identity in the world, the repetitive strokes of the pen acts as an ode to the struggles that I faced internally. The long nights and hours of work for this piece echoes this struggle. However this symbol of hope is the red behind the figure, illuminating my unknown future.
