Frogs are wonderful subjects. Slippery, wet, and unseeingly ugly to most. They are unexpectedly intriguing to paint. My portrait is cheeky, but refined, highlighting the playful duality of my favourite animal. What else to those glassy eyes behold?
Unlike the artist, I don’t love frogs in real life. But there’s something whimsical about how frogs and toads are portrayed in literature and art that make them so much more likable than their slippery and wet real-life counterparts. I love this distinguished and slightly grumpy gentleman!
