‘The 4’ is an appropriation of Kathe Kollwitz’s “Selbsbildnis’. My artwork explores the ideas of grief and pain my family members faced during their service in the Australian military. These portraits aim to evoke not only grief and pain, but also a sense of respect for veterans of war.
