The idea and depiction of a phoenix rising from an injured bird may seem simple at first glance, but the grandiosity of the artwork subtly represents the cycle of regret and acceptance I felt caused by the death of my father. It ultimately symbolises the struggle between mulling over the past and moving on to the future. The artwork acts as a reminder that we never know how truly important something or someone is until we lose them.
