Sparking curiosity
In response to research that highlights children start shaping their career aspirations from a young age, and in support of good practice in career education, Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) invited primary schools to participate in its inaugural Career Allsorts program.
Adapted from the āDrawing the Futureā report, Career Allsorts is designed to help students to think more broadly about careers, introduce them to a range of career models and challenge any stereotypes they may have. Importantly, it aims to spark their curiosity and inspire career aspirations.
Through the use of art, Career Allsorts has provided students with an opportunity to think about and express how they perceive their future of work. Looking at the artwork and reading the studentsā statements, we have every reason to feel confident they have exciting futures ahead of them.
The studentsā artwork also demonstrates how primary schools can play a vital role in helping young people to broaden their horizons and how the artwork acts as a catalyst to help question and reflect on some of their career thinking.
ISV thanks the participating schools and, in particular, the students for their enthusiasm.
