Land, Sea and Sky: Art and the Environment

Many contemporary artists use their artwork to remind us to look after our planet.
Through their art, artists have often raised awareness for an important environmental issue, and changed the way that people think.

- Find two artworks in the collection that remind us to look after the environment.
- List title of artworks, student names, year levels and materials the artworks are made from.

- What are the ideas being communicated through each of the two works?
- What materials and images are being used to show each idea?
- What part of the artwork stands out the most for you in each work?

Think of an environmental issue that is important to you, and design and make one of the following to communicate your idea:
- a postage stamp
- a tote bag
- a diorama
- a poster for a peaceful protest rally.

Well-known artists that can be used as examples or for inspiration include:
- Michelangelo Pistoletto
- Guan Wei
- Cai Guo Qiang
- Mary Mattingly.
